SUMMARY:On-Line Lecture: Application of an Autonomous Rover Platform in Underground Mining Environments
DESCRIPTION:The Application of an Autonomous Rover Platform in Underground Mining Environments \n  \nMr Aron Kisdi\, GMV & Dr Matt Eyre\, Camborne School of Mines \n6.30pm Thursday 4th February 2021 \nThe application of robotics across multiple industries has been significant and this talk will focus on the application of an autonomous mobile robot and its deployment in the mining cycle to improve safety and efficiency. The robot has been developed utilising software that has been deployed in space applications and the work presented is part of the Innovate UK – funded project ARISE. \nContact secretary@thecornishengineer.com for the link

SUMMARY:MinSouth Snap-Greener Mining: Is it achievable and how?
DESCRIPTION:Fuel_Economy_Brochure\nMinSouth Snap\nGreener Mining:  Is It Achievable and How?\nOn Tuesday the 23rd of February\, Tim Patterson\, Chief Executive Officer of Fuel Economy Solution Limited has agreed to discuss at the MinSouth online luncheon potential means to make mining greener and how. \nTim graduated with a BSc.(Hons) in Mining Geology from University College Cardiff in 1988. He spent his first 10 years in industry in underground excavation\, initially as a junior engineer with an opencast coal miner and finally with Balfour Beatty as their senior geotechnical engineer of the Jersey Storm Water cavern and tunnels sewerage scheme. Tim has fulfilled geotechnical engineering roles within other major tunnels in the UK including the Conwy immersed tube tunnel for Costain-Tarmac\, the Pen-Y-Clip A55 rock tunnel for Howard Humphreys & Partners/Brown & Root Civil (both North Wales) and the Penzance & St Ives Interceptor Sewer Scheme as hard rock mechanics tunnels and shaft designer for D&B contractor John Brown Cementation. \nFuel Economy Solution Limited is an energy efficiency business here to help your organization save fuel costs\, comply with new climate change legislation emissions limits and sweat all of your existing assets using internal combustion engines. Our combustion technology is effective\, stabilizes hydrocarbons (bio-)fuels but also applicable in waste to energy solutions to provide cleaner\, greener and cheaper industrial energy. Higher sulphur engines which have to burn lower sulphur fuels required by incoming climate change regulations is our sweet spot. \nAs well as a combustion efficiency and GHG emissions reduction business in its own right\, Fuel Economy Solution is also the founder of the Economy Solution Group. \n \nThis is a collaborative group of centrally co-ordinated transformation and green technologies focused on transition to a low carbon economy \nThis will be online.  Come and attend this fascinating presentation with your snap on GoToMeeting from 12:30 to 1:30 on Tuesday!  A Brochure for this event is at the beginning of this write up. \nHope to see you there! \nPS – New to GoToMeeting? SUMMARY:Sundowner
DESCRIPTION:Video conference is done through Wonder.  As their web page states: \n“Wonder is a space where you can connect to others in a more spontaneous and fluid way. You move around freely between groups. It’s fun\, creative and energizing. We call this concept fluid togetherness\, we think it’s the future of how people will connect online in future and we’re incredibly excited about it. The best thing is that Wonder is going to be a the core of it.” \nThere are separate rooms available at this space for Students\, Geologists\, Mining Engineers and Metallurgists.  Anyone can go into whichever room. \nHere is the link: \nSundowners\n
