Lecture: Scotgold Resources Ltd.’s Cononish Gold & Silver Mine

April 8, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

On the 8th of April, MinSouth will be hosting a lecture presented by ScotGold Resources Ltd to discuss its Cononish Gold and Silver Mine.  The presentation will be by Richard Gray

NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR – WITH EFFECT FROM 01 APRIL 2021 Mr Richard Gray has extensive international experience, in both underground and open pit mine operations, and brings considerable operational knowledge and management experience and skills to the Company, particularly in the development and implementation of gold mining projects. He has previously held various roles at both majors and juniors within the gold mining sector and his successful career has included 15 years working in South Africa for Gencor Ltd and 14 years in West Africa for Golden Star Resources Ltd and Avocet Mining.  He holds a BSc (Hons) Mining Engineering from the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business, Cape Town University.

This mine is in the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park near Tyndrum.

We last heard from ScotGold in 2014   Since that time, ScotGold has started mining and had its first gold pour in 2020 on the 30th of November.  It will be interesting to hear the paths they followed to reach this point and the paths being planned to follow in the future.

Gold was discovered at Cononish in the 1980s.  Diamond drilling campaigns were followed by a 900m long exploration adit between 1989 and 1991.  Mineral resource delineation continued from that point.  Planning approval was granted by the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park in 2018 on October 19th, Work commenced later that year on December 18th.

There are estimated reserves of 550 000t with a grade of 11.8 g Au/t.  The average annual production over the nine year mine life is 23 370 oz.  63 employees will be working at this mine while it is in production.
