On Thursday 14th May at IOM3, 297 Euston Road and online the meeting was well attended for a very informative Prestige Lecture. We learnt about the East West relationship of where it has been and where it is going. The dependence of China on foreign mineral resources and being a major supplier does not give it privileges. It gives the suppliers some strength in that they can insist of local processing of the mineral. It was also interesting to learn that one western country has a family who have financial interests in many of the country’s major mineral companies which is causing an adverse reaction by their overseas suppliers. The meeting learnt that it will be becoming more difficult to build environmentally hazardous REE processing plants in China because they are bringing new rules and regulations into the statute books to improve the environment.

The images below show Henry giving the lecture and The President, Patrick Cox and Vice President, Grace Yungwirth with Henry later.
